Instructions for using the plugin Advanced Database Cleaner free and paid version.

In the previous article, I introduced you to the Advanced Database Cleaner plugin and its outstanding features. In my personal opinion, Advanced Database Cleaner is the best WordPress database cleaning and optimization plugin at the moment. If you have installed the free version or ordered the paid version of this plugin but don’t know how to use it, today’s article is for you.

Some important notes
The plugin has the ability to interfere very deeply with the WordPress database, so:
- Please backup your website’s database before using the plugin to prevent any unexpected problems.
- Don’t delete anything if you’re not sure what you’re about to delete.
- The scanning feature of the Pro version (Premium) can still be misidentified. So, take a close look at components tagged with Orphans before removing them.
Use Advanced Database Cleaner plugin
1. First, you need to install and activate this plugin through the plugin library of WordPress.org ( free version ) or download from the link that the author provides on the invoice (paid version).

2. Next, go to WP DB Cleaner or Tools => WP DB Cleaner . Here, you will see the following basic tabs: General clean-up , Tables , Options , Cron jobs , Overview & settings and License (paid version) or Premium (free version).
3. The General clean-up tab will allow you to clean up: revisions, auto drafts, drafts, trash posts, pending comments, spam comments, trash comments, orphan postmeta, orphan commentmeta, orphan relationships and dashboard transient feed.

Please tick the components you want to clean then click Bulk Actions => select Clean => click Apply .
Note:
- For the Pro version, you can click on the black eye icon (in the View column ) to see the contents of the components before cleaning them up to avoid deleting the wrong data. Free version does not support.
- The Schedule feature allows you to schedule automatic database cleaning and optimization. However, I don’t recommend using this feature as it may also delete drafts you’ve saved or comments you haven’t yet moderated.
4. Tab Tables will categorize and allow you to delete the tables (tables) that the plugin has previously removed remains.

Click the Scan tables button (Pro version only) to find tables that are no longer in use. These tables will be highlighted in orange ( Orphans ). However, check carefully before ticking and clicking Bulk Actions => Delete to delete it.

5. Similar to the Tables tab, the Options tab allows you to find and delete unused records in the database’s table options.

Click the Scan options button (Pro version only) to find the records that are no longer in use. These records will be highlighted in orange ( Orphans ). However, check carefully before ticking and clicking Bulk Actions => Delete to delete it.

6. Tab Cron jobs has exactly the same usage as the two tabs above. Only difference is that it allows you to delete cron tasks that are no longer in use.

Click the Scan tasks button (Pro version only) to find cron jobs that are no longer in use. These cron jobs will be highlighted in orange ( Orphans ). However, check carefully before ticking and clicking Bulk Actions => Delete to delete it.
7. The Overview & settings tab allows you to monitor an overview of the database’s parameters as well as set up a few other (non-critical) features.

In there:
- Show plugin left menu : displays the menu of the Advanced Database Cleaner plugin on the main menu (left) of the WordPress Dashboard. Should be turned off for short. You can access it through Tools => WP DB Cleaner instead .
- Show plugin menu under tools : displays the menu of the Advanced Database Cleaner plugin in Tools .
- Hide premium tab : hide the Premium tab (for the free version). Should tick to turn off for compact.
Above is all you need to know when using the Advanced Database Cleaner plugin. Hopefully, it will help you to use this plugin more easily and efficiently. The free version has quite a few limitations, so if conditions allow, you should upgrade to the Pro version (Premium) to experience more great features.
