What is the Monarch Social Sharing plugin?
Although the plugin name of the Monarch plugin already speaks to the functionality of this plugin. But I still want to explain to you a little more about this plugin.
Monarch is a plugin that provides you with a set of share and follow buttons for popular social networks.
Important points you need to know:
Monarch is a standalone WordPress plugin.. This means you install and activate it and you’re good to go. It doesn’t have any connection to third-party services like many SassS-based plugins such as Sumo . I know a lot of people don’t like the idea of a website having to connect to a 3rd service.
So if you are also this type of person, a social sharing plugin like Monarch is a good choice.
In summary, there are 2 main components in the Monarch plugin:
- A group of social media buttons
- A group of buttons follow media
Now let’s take a look at the components one by one:
Immediately after installing and activating the plugin, your first job is to configure the share buttons. Monarch gives you 5 places to display the share buttons as below:
Sidebar, popup is already clear, no need to like it.
Fly-in : appears at the bottom corner of the screen when the user scrolls down what percentage of the page. This one has its own configuration.
Inline : appears below and above your content (in posts and pages)
Media : appears on media files (like images, videos) like below:
To select a location you just need to tick the location you want. Remember to click the Save Changes button after making changes.
For each position you have a separate setting. Here you can change the button style or button format:
In addition you can change the display. As below is the display of the share button on the sidebar:
As you can see, you can change the orientation of the sidebar, display the number of shares, and whether or not to display it on mobile devices and so on.
You also have control over where you want the share button to appear:
When talking about the social sharing function of a plugin, one thing you are often interested in is how many social networks it supports. In this regard, Monarch boasts a large number of social networks. There are over 20 social networks it supports.
Anyway, you really only need a few popular social networks. Here are all the social networks it supports:
To use the social network you want, simply click on Add Networks:
Next, you tick the social networks you want. Finally, click the Apply button. Remember to always click the Save Changes button to save your settings.
So how do the share buttons look?
You can see these share buttons in the sidebar of . From a personal aesthetic perspective, I find Monarch’s share buttons to look very nice.
One component included in the Monarch plugin are the social follow buttons. These buttons make it easy for people to follow your social media pages right on your website.
Just like the share buttons, the follow buttons also look great:
Configuring these buttons is a bit more complicated than sharing buttons. Because each social network has its own API and its own connection instructions.
This is a problem of social networks, not of Monarch. In fact, Monarch even gives you a detailed guide on how to connect to social networks .
To add a social network, do the same as the share buttons above. That is, you click on the Add networks button. In the popup screen that appears, you just need to select the social network you want users to follow.
Once you have activated the social network you want, you can display the follow buttons one of two ways: via widget and shortcode.
Regarding widgets, you have your own settings. The settings are the same as the share buttons above. Here you can change the shape of the button and the settings for the button’s appearance and behaviour.
Next, you go to the Widgets section of WordPress, you will see a new widget like below. Now you just need to drag the widget to the sidebar you want to display. It’s done.
As for the shortcode, you can also customize it to suit your personal needs. Once done, remember to click on Generate Shortcode . You copy the generated shortcode into any post and page you want to display the follow button.
Other features of Monarch
Besides the share and follow buttons I mentioned above, Monarch also has a few powerful features that are worth recommending.
- It has a statistics module that tells you how many shares you have. You will see which posts are getting the most shares for each social network.
- You can imort and export Monarch settings. So you can duplicate Monarch’s setup across multiple of your websites.
- Monarch is mobile-friendly

Price of the plugin
Unfortunately, this plugin is not retailed by Elegant Theme. If you want to buy the plugin you need to spend $ 70 to buy the Developer package.
Of course, you’ll get all of Elegant Theme’s themes and plugins, and one-year update support.
So should you buy this plugin or not?
