When you visit a WordPress directory, the directory’s path will contain a prefix. The default is category . For example: hocwordpress.vn/category/cach-tao-plugin-wordpress
In terms of aesthetics as well as SEO factors, this prefix will make your directory path not user-friendly. It makes your path unsightly, long, and hard to remember. So in this article, I will guide you to remove the category prefix on the WordPress URL.
Using Yoast SEO plugin
For the first way, I will guide you with the Yoast SEO plugin . This is a very popular plugin that any SEOer knows.
After you have finished installing Yoast SEO, go to its settings menu. Specifically SEO ➔ Display in search . Here, you go to the bottom of the settings page, at the Directory path section, select Remove .
Use Rank Math SEO plugin
Rank Math SEO although born later than Yoast SEO. But has grown very strongly and achieved more than 1 million uses. If your website is using Rank Math SEO, then I will show you how to remove the category prefix without having to download Yoast SEO.
After the installation is complete, access the menu Rank Math ➔ General Settings . At the Strip Category Base option , change it to ON to remove the category prefix .
