Backup your website to Google Drive using the free plugin UpdraftPlus.

Many people have used it to store documents, videos and audios. Integrating such files into WordPress is also quite simple. If you are interested, see this article .
In today’s article, I will guide you step by step to back up your website to Google Drive.
Let’s just get started.
Step-by-step guide to backing up your website to Google Drive
First you need to install and activate the UpdraftPlus plugin.
Once the plugin is activated, go to Settings -> UpdraftPlus Backups -> Settings .
And click on the Google Drive icon

The Updraft Plus connection instructions appear. You need to pay attention to a URL you have circled in red. This URL you will use in the next configuration step below.
To connect to Google you need Google Client ID and Client Secret. I will show you how to create one in the steps below.
By default UpdraftPlus will create a folder named UpdraftPlus to store backups. You cannot change the name with the free version of the plugin.

Click on the link that I point the arrow in the image.
You will now be redirected to the Google Console. Here you click Create Project to create a new project.

Enter the project name and click Create .

After the project is created, you need to Enable Google Drive API. Click on Library and search for Google Drive API.
Click the Enable button to enable this API

Next go to Credentials -> OAuth consent screen . Enter the product name and click the Save button

Now you need to generate OAuth client ID . Click the OAuth client ID button.

On the next screen, select Web Application . Enter the name.
In Authorized Javascript origins you need to enter the address of your website.
Authorized redirect URIs : enter the address in the Settings section of UpdraftPlus I mentioned above.
After entering the information, click the Create button .

Now you will have 2 information client ID and client secret. Copy them into the Settings section of the plugin.

After clicking the Save button in the plugin’s Settings, a dialog box appears asking you to allow the plugin to be connected to your Google Drive account. Click on the link to license the plugin.

In the process of authorizing the plugin to access Google Drive, if you get an error This app isn’t verified , just ignore it by clicking the link at the end.

At this point you have enabled the plugin connection to Google Drive.
You can now back up. You can schedule automatic backups.
Here I will try to backup manually.
Go to the Current Status tab . Click the Backup Now button

A dialog box appears allowing you to choose which components to back up. By default the plugin backs up all.

Click the Backup Now button to start the backup.
When the backup is complete, go to Google Drive to check the results.
You will see a new folder called Updraft Plus.

Click on it, you will see the backup files as below. If you back up all of them, there will be 5 files:

To restore the website to its previous state, go to the Existing Backups tab.
Here you will see a list of backups:

Click the Restore button to restore the backup you want
A dialog box appears for you to choose what to restore.

Select the component to restore and click the Restore button .
You need to be patient when restoring. Do not click the Restore button too much to avoid errors when restoring. Follow the instructions in the Restore dialog box.
